'The candle is too pretty to burn! Here’s how to burn it correctly

I often hear people say, 'The candle is too pretty to burn,' and I completely understand. My terrarium candles are crafted with love and great attention to detail, they're designed to be visually stunning.

Many of my customers (myself included 😉) choose to keep them as decoration and that’s ok, but when you’re ready to light yours, here’s how to burn it correctly:

1 Trim the wick before each burn

Trimming the wick before lighting your candle is essential for maintaining steady flame and prolonging the life of your candle. A wick that’s too long can result in a large, flickering flame that produces excess smoke or soot. It can also cause the candle to burn too quickly and unevenly.

2 Burn for at least 2–3 hours to ensure the succulent details melt completely and create an even wax pool

Allowing your candle to burn for 2–3 hours at a time helps the wax melt evenly, creating a full wax pool that reaches the edges of the container. This is particularly important for candles with intricate or detailed designs, like succulents or decorative embellishments.

3 Keep away from drafts, kids, and pets for safety!

For safety reasons, it’s important to keep your candle in a stable, controlled environment. Drafts or wind can cause the flame to flicker or even flare up, creating an unpredictable burn and increasing the risk of fire hazards. Keep your candle away from open windows, vents, or fans that might disturb the flame. Additionally, candles should always be placed out of reach of children and pets. Curious little hands or paws can easily knock over a lit candle, which could lead to burns or fire accidents.

By following these tips, you'll not only get the most out of your candle but also ensure it burns safely and beautifully every time.
